Douglass's account is written in 1881, twenty-two years after the raid.Do you trust his account?

Sagot :

Many historians do indeed trust this account. In general, accounts that are recorded long after the fact can have the benefit of removing harsh emotions.

I do not think that the recollection provide enough proof

Subjectively speaking,  Accounts of events that happen more than 20 years and being recollected by a 70 year old person would considered to be unreliable by any standard.

Although there is also a chance that The recollection is correct, there is also the chance that the recollection that made could be really subjective to Douglass and might not fully represent the truth,
