What effect did the townshend Acts have on the colonists?

Sagot :

The townshend acts were meant to increase revenue within the colonies by creating new taxes on certain imported British goods, such as tea and paper. It made goods that were not produced in North America (and had to be imported) more expensive. This would have been difficult for the colonists and it resulted in resentment among the colonists for what was seen as unfair taxation. Ultimately the townshend Acts caused another boycott, this time of the newly taxed imported goods.
