Created mass culture

One of the new and most outstanding features of the economy was the low cost production of a huge and diversified amount of goods, as a result of the development of new technologies and the introduction of more efficient production methods. The consequence was the need to release these surplus production, for which the development of advertising led to the consolidation of the so-called consumer society.

This process brought with it the mass culture that is a set of cultural objects, goods or services, produced by cultural industries, which are aimed at a heterogeneous audience.

According to critics, such as Adorno, the mass follows the same thing. According to the Frankfurt School, mass culture is the main means by which capital would have achieved its greatest success. Then, the whole system of mass production of goods, services and ideas would have made it accept, in general terms, the model imposed by the capitalist system hand in hand with consumerism, technology and rapid satisfaction. This culture is defined through the mass media of communication since the nineteenth century (printing, radio, film, television, and even today with internet). From this appear mass societies that are shaped by a society of individuals aligned to capitalism, where the bourgeoisie has the power to introduce into society products, ideologies, etc. and thus curtail the freedom of expression of a fully capitalized society.
