My first day of work made me feel like I'm on top of the world. Because I was only 18 years
old, I applied for a Line Cook position at COOPER'S HAWK Restaurant, had an interview, and I got
accepted for the job. I felt like a real adult, because this is the first step that got my foot in the door,
that opened my path to the career of my dreams. This was my dream job, especially as a high school
student. I took part in the 3-year Culinary Arts High School Trade Program, which helped me gain the
knowledge and skills I needed for the job. When I started on my first day of work, I was being trained
in Pantry Station for appetizers and desserts. As I walked in the door on the first day, I can remember a
lot of the customers eating, talking, and having an enjoyable time with the people at their table. I also
remember the smells of the sweet and savory foods that were lingering in the air. It was a slow, but
busy 8-hour shift, I learned so many recipes, skills, and loopholes' to working in the Pantry Station.
