French bread and pastries have been a popular staple food in France for centuries.  Here are some popular French breads in France and other Francophone countries; Baguette, Pain de Campagne, Pain de Mie, Fougasse, Pompe à l'huile, Pain d'épices, Brioche, Pain Complet, Pogne de Romans, Galette de Pain, Ficelle, Prospera, Fouée, Boule, etc.  Baguettes and Le pains are usually eaten at breakfast time, toasted with butter, jam, and/or nutella. Bread is so important in France because it symbolizes equality. It goes back all the way to the 1700's when French bakers went around town and handed bread to the poor, the rich, the wealthy, everybody. I personally like french bread, it's flavors and different forms. I usually eat french bread with cheese and grapes.
