Three characteristics of living organisms:
- Locomotion : Living things exhibit locomotion , means they move . Animals have special organs for locomotion. For example ; earthworm moves through their circular skin muscle on the surface of soil, and plants move in the direction of sunlight in order to perform photosynthesis .
- Respiration : Living organisms respire, by the exchange of gases. Respiration requires energy as it is a chemical process. This energy is obtained from the food eaten by the organism.
- Growth : Living organisms grow through different stages of development. It is an important factor. They mature with time . Growth can be seen in every living organism.
More information:
Living things are alive things , which are made of small microscopic structure called cells. They grow and exhibit locomotion. Living things are capable of producing new young ones through the process of reproduction. They have a particular life span.
