Answer:
Acid rain is a phenomenon by an atmospheric pollution caused by the release of gases containing sulphur and nitrogen oxides that combine with the atmospheric water to make acids and causing acid rain.
Explanation:
The main cause of it is the industrial burning of charcoal and other fossil fuels to make electricity. Other factors are: Vehicles and heavy equipment that require a lot of burning fossil fuels, manufacturing, oil industries and other industries. The effects of acid rains to humans are as following:
-Skin irritations to slight burns.
-Asthma.
-Skin diseases.
-Respiratory problems.
-Gastrointestinal problems (If the victim ate seafood or drank water that is contaminated with sulphuric acids).
The effects of acid rain to plants are:
The acid rain removes most if not all nutrients from the soil, causing not enough nutrition for the plant's needs to grow and survive.
The acid droplets from the acid rain will likely get stuck on the leaves of the plants, slowly corroding the leaves. Meaning the plant wont be able to make as much energy from photosynthesis, dead or dying trees will be a common sight after an acid rain is over.
The effects of acid rain to water are:
The acid rain will slowly contaminate the water with the sulphuric acids and it makes the water more dangerous to even swim or drink the water. After the acid rain is over, dead fishes floating on the surface of the water will be a common sight to see. Other dead or dying animals may start to appear. Drinking the water from the contaminated water will cause a variety of health affects some including:
gastrointestinal problems and the higher the acidity the more severe the health effects.
The effects of acid rain to structures are:
The acid rain will corrode the materials that the building is made out of.
The severity is caused by the acidity by the rain. Buildings materials like Metal, Cement, Wood, Ceramics And Stones will get corroded and cause warping, missing and or chipped of parts. This can cause the building to potentially collapse, statue parts potentially falling, bridges collapsing causing people not being able to cross the water for a period of time depending on the size of the bridge.
The way to minimize the effects are:
-Use renewable energy and reusable batteries. These batteries can be use again so that the replacing of batteries for gadgets is less needed.
-The 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). There are a lot of ways to make trash something more useful, and its better than to burn trash.
-Either use a bicycle or walking to short destinations. Walking, Running or using a Bicycle can reduce fossil fuel burning and is good for your health.
-Not using excess electricity. The more electricity you use, the more fossil fuels get burned. Causing more dangerous gases to mix with the water upping the risk of acid rain. Turn off the lights if your not using it.
