A plant cell has a rigid outer cell wall while an animal cell does not. This is what gives the animal cell the more fluid shape, and the plant cell a more typically square shape. There are two structures in plant cells that animal cells do not have, the first is a cell wall, the second is the chloroplast. The cell wall maintains its shape the chloroplast is what allows plants to undergo photosynthesis.
